daddy's birthday...

This was the weekend of daddy's birthday. Nana phyl & Pop pop came to spend the weekend with us. mom treated all of us to a Braves game. Now, I've been before so I showed them around and taught them where everything was... above is a picture of me sitting on a giant baseball before the game.
And then there is one if me @ "Toon Town" and then me waving at the players during batting practice... we had such a fun time and really great seats. I enjoyed watching all of the people and fireworks and even sat in our neighbors lap! he was a very nice man and he had food.
this weekend was also the day that i took my first official steps all by myself. the toy that i wanted was across the room. So, i found my route of travel, and off I went. Only got half way there the first few times, but it didn't take long for me to figure it out... Now, I'm a pro or I think that I am anyway...

Early Birthday Celebration

This weekend was an early celebration for my Daddy's Birthday and my Uncle Sam's Birthday (August 21st). It was a big one for Uncle Sam too! The Big 30! Check out Nana's Bikini cake creation that she made in honor of the Birthday Boys!
Thanks to my Uncle Brian's family, we were able to enjoy their lakehouse which was a great setting for a wonderful family gathering... We were also able to use their boat & water toys for some afternoon fun. Brooke & Brian also created a perfect backdrop for a wonderful party. They cooked and made signs and special candies for us all to enjoy. So a BIG Thank You to all of the Schulers for your hospitality!! This is me lounging in the Lake on that lazy Saturday afternoon... It is really hard being a baby in this family as you can see.
I almost fell asleep in the lake, but then Grandad & Nana got me out and rocked me and sat with me on the dock while the big kids went tubing. It was mommy & Aunt Hailey's first time to try out the water sport and they did a fairly good job until Uncle Brian tried to kill them... haha
Then, after everyone had a turn, we all went on a boat ride around the lake and Brian gave us a tour of the water... Here are a few pictures of me on the boat... I LOVED riding and watching the wake from the boat and seeing all of the water splash around... I liked it SO much that I think that I need daddy to buy me one...! Maybe I should ask for a boat for my upcoming first birthday?

With My New Teeth...

Since I now have TWO teeth (on the bottom front), my new favorite thing is to carry things around in my mouth without using my hands. In particular, I LOVE the squishy chickens that Nana gave me in Florida that were leftover from the convention...
I love them so much that Daddy can hold one up and say; "Bodie, get back in here or the chicken gets it..." As soon as Bodie sees the chicken, he comes frantically crawling back to rescue it.
Luckily, we ended up with a couple of them once we unpacked. So we keep one in the toy box and we keep one in the tub for bathtime...
Well that is, until last night... We are sad to announce that during our bath, the bathtub chicken was officially be-headed... Mommy looked down to see two big blue eyes staring at her with a mouth full of a chicken's head. After it was scooped out, Bodie immediately attempted to stick the rest of the poor little guy's body in his mouth, but it just wasn't the same. So we are sad to report today that we are minus one clucker in the Quick household.
But don't think that Bodie doesn't stare at the headless chicken and grin in amusement!

Now We Watch what I Say...

So here's where I am looking at the television and decide that I don't care to watch what is on... And with my new discovery...
Here is where I change the channel to MY show or just turn it off completely so that I can play with my toys in peace...
Daddy isn't quite happy with my new skill, but mommy thinks it's hilarious...

Hawaii Five-O

When Nana & Grandad went to Hawaii this past March to watch the bulldogs play baseball, they brought back all of the grandkids matching Hawaiian outfits. We took some pictures of Mr. Bodie wearing his this weekend. Christopher enjoyed calling him Panama Jack all day.

My First Tooth...

So... It is not very plain to see here in the picture, but Bodie's first tooth finally came through!! It is just the very top of it sticking out. And he is now working on getting #2. Both on the bottom. He has definately been a little moody with their arrival. We are hoping that the worst is behind us for a little while though... Beacuase of his love of eating, we are sure that he will be excited once he figures out to use them... haha

Five Generations...

Having family is such a special thing to cherish...
So, I have been harping on Christopher since Bodie was born to take a picture of his side of the family with the Five Generations. To have a lineage that long is just not very common and such a memorable moment to capture. This will be such a special picture for Bodie to have one day. Hopefully, he will appreciate it as much as his mommy does. In the photo is Nana Phyl, Mama Beck (95 yrs) holding Bodie (9 months), Nanny, & Christopher. Thanks for this special moment in time.

Some of my Firsts...

This weekend, we stayed with the Quick's and got to partake in a few firsts...
We went to our first Movie. It was a Drive-in movie and Mr. Bodie had a fabulous time... It was a double feature and we saw The Proposal & Year One. Before the movie Mr. Bodie played on a blanket with toys and was so excited...
Grandad also took me to see horses for the first time... I was totally in awe and didn't know what to think. Grandad sat me on one's back and I patted it a couple of times and basically just stared in amazement... This was me on the way to see them... I was SO excited... I had my first photo session with all of my cousins on my Mommy's side. This is about as good as it can get with that many kiddos looking and happy at the same time... Finally, my first picture with Nana Phyl, Pop Pop & cousin Tyler... Thanks for such a fun weekend everyone... We thoroughly enjoyed spending time with everyone...

Surfer Dude...

Bodie was totally loving the ocean and riding the waves like a true surfer. This was our last beach day and there had been a big storm that had come up the day before and this day was completely calm... Hardly any movement at all. Maybe not as fun for the big kids (i.e Christopher), but the little ones LOVED it including Bodie...
I can definitely say that we shared an AWESOME first vacation together and hope that Bodie continues to LOVE the water as much in the future. I could definitely take up permanent residence in Florida... Beautiful weather and plenty of sand and surf... We miss it already...

My First Seaside Visit

Our little man had his first visit to Seaside Florida today and was taken to see the spot where mommy & daddy officially began their lives together. It was truly a special experience for us to take him to the Savannah Pavillion and think back five years ago when Christopher and I stood and affirmed our vows to one another. On May 15, 2004, the thought never crossed our minds that in five years, we would be blessed with a perfect little man. Thank goodness, we were though!. We now look forward to sharing our experiences with him and taking him all of the places that we have been and hope to see. Having him was a true defining moment in our lives and we are so thankful. We spent several hours walking through the town and checking out the shops and sites. Christopher and I enjoyed several Banana Daiquiri’s which were the best we've ever had and then stopped at a taco stand for lunch. As you can see, Bodie was super excited about the lunch. We then packed back up and headed back to Destin for some outlet shopping... Happy Birthday GRANDAD!!

Vacation Baby...

The Quick's took their first Family vacation together and enjoyed several days of sand and sun in Destin, FL. We left around 2:30am on the 10th which was perfect for Mr. Bodie. This allowed the majority of the 5 hour trip to be during his nightly sleep time anyway. By the time that we arrived around 7:30, he was rested and ready to hit the sand. As you can see, Bodie immediately became a little beach baby. He loved the water, the sand and the sun... We took a little baby pool with a shade to the beach and filled it with about an inch of water to keep him cool and it allowed him to splash and play for hours. This gave mommy more relaxing time which was a relief. This is definitely recommended when taking little ones to the beach. Bodie also enjoyed crawling in the sand and would take off going after everyone's stuff that he could get his hands on. He would then get sand ALL over him including his face which drove his daddy crazy. He had a really great time though and it was very special for us to be able to take him and see his excitement.

4th of July...

So this was the little man's first 4th of July and we were a little nervous about how he'd like it, but he was in total awe... It was really fun to watch those big blue eyes stare in amazement. His Nana Phyl & PopPop came to visit for the weekend and joined us in the Firework display. We had such a great time and cook-out with the family.

Standing Tall

So this is the image of our morning each day now. First, we hear a rattle bang against the bed accompanied by some music playing and then an eventual sermon being spoken. (The important chatter consists of a vast combination of various pronouncements to the word da-da). We never knew that there were so many different ways to say this word, but there are... different tones, pitches, emphasis on different syllables or letters, etc. But then, you turn the corner and see two big blue eyes staring back at you with SO much excitement. What a motivation to get out of bed...
As you can also see from the pictures, we now have constant bruises on our forehead from the many falls that we incur due to our insistence on standing tall in all cases... We will attempt to pull up on anything whether it is sturdy or moving, little or large, a hard or soft surface, and any and everything in between. At almost 9 months, we think we are so big...

Christopher's First Father's Day

[Christopher] "This weekend we celebrated Father's Day by going home and visiting all of our family in Alabama. Kimberly and I took Bodie swimming for the first time and it looks like we are going to have a little water bug on our hands. Bodie had no problem burying his face in the water and taking a drink. Bodie got to play with all of his cousins and got to eat loads of food he probably shouldn't have. It truly was a terrific Father's Day. I am so lucky to have a wonderful son and a loving wife."
Bodie also started his new daycare on Monday, called Children's Friend. He was very excited as Christopher & I took him in and began grinning and waving. We walked back to his room and handed over all of the essentials to one of his teachers. Then Christopher handed Bodie to Ms. Priscilla, which he immediately responded with the "Bodie Stare". His face completely read, "I don't know you." Then she walked him over and sat him in a high chair and he immediately knew what was about to happen. He then became EXTREMELY excited because breakfast was coming. We definitely have a good eater on our hands... This is a picture of him and daddy on the first day @ his second school...

My first Swimming Experience....

For Father's Day weekend, Christopher wanted to take Bodie for his first swim... We are planning a beach vacation soon and we wanted to test the waters (pun intended-ha).
So on Saturday, we sat him in the pool for the first time. We immediately felt his little hesitation, but it didn't last long. Soon he realized that it was like a big bath-tub that he could splash in... He then figured out that if he kicked his legs, he could move the float around. He also liked to be held and kick the side of the pool and feel the jets on his feet. Hopefully, this is a sign of a good vacation to come... We also visited with Bodie's Great-Grandmother, "Nanny" which was wonderful. She had a great time holding him and even called him Mini-Chris... You could see that it took her back in time, remembering when Christopher was a little guy... It was a very special visit.

Bodie's last Day of "It's a Bug's World"....

As many of you may have heard, due to the economy, Bodie's daycare was closed. The most interesting part of the story is that they only gave the parents three days notice... Christopher and I found out on Wednesday that their last day was Friday. We immediately went into survival mode and began researching all of the centers that we had looked at about 6 months ago and a few new ones. Luckily, we found a new place that will be awesome for Mr. Bodie. As Christopher and I discussed, it was a blessing in disguise. Even though, he was VERY muched loved at "It's A Bugs World", he was the only baby left and was included in the one year old room. At his new school, he has about 10 other babies and 5 or so that are around his age. We know that he will be loved and cared for and be in a much better environment for his development. So these are pics the morning of his last day at the old daycare. To all of those that cared for him and loved him there, we say "Thank You".

In honor of our Omaha Family...

For a VERY BRIEF time, we are unofficially Arkansas fans... GO HOGS!!
(that was really hard to type).
Since Arkansas is in the College World Series and we have Omaha relatives that are avid fans, we are cheering them on in honor of our family!

We know that they would do the same for us... haha. We dressed Mr. Bodie up on Saturday in his Arkansas outfit from the Omaha Wallers to help cheer on the team against Cal State Fullerton. It seemed to work well since they pulled off a 10-6 victory against the Titans... It didn't, however, bode so well on Monday night with the 9-1 loss to LSU. Bodie wasn't wearing the outfit which was likely the problem... We are washing it now!

We are hoping that they will pull off a victory against Virgina to stay in it! Good Luck Guys...

We love you and miss you! Maybe we can come to see the World Series and visit with you soon! Here's keeping our heads held high for the razorbacks!!!

Welcome back to Atlanta, Ma-maw

We have a visitor at our house for the next couple of weeks while my parent's are out of town. My grandmother (aka "Ma-maw") is staying with us. She has visited us once before, but it has been a really long time since she came to the big city...

We will have to do some gardening, shopping & site-seeing while she is in town. And as you can see, we have one really excited little boy over having a house guest!!

My mother (aka Nana), Hannah, Bodie, Ma-maw, & I met at the Georgia Welcome Center @ the stateline on Sunday. It was so much fun and were able to visit and picnic before stealing ma-maw away. Bodie also immensly enjoyed playing with cousin Hannah (and chewing on her a little too!).

Hannah had just finished her annual dance recital the night before and brought her program to show us. It had a special note from the family and her pictures. Nana said that she did an awesome job, as always. I was disappointed that I wasn't able to attend this year...

We then packed up and drove back to Atlanta to settle in for the week ahead. We are looking forward to an exciting weekend, so stay tuned!

the world of coke...

So this weekend, was our first Atlanta tour... at the World of Coca-Cola. It was so much fun and Bodie had a great time seeing all of the bright red signs and animated objects. He even loved the Polar Bear... We really didn't know how he'd react to his first live character, but he just gave him that total "Bodie Stare". He checked him out and touched his fur and then just looked at us and laughed as though it were a joke. It was so fun to see his reaction. We then continued on the tour and looking through the memorabilia and watching the bottling process. Bodie instead sought out every kid that was in his sightline and watched their every move. We then watched their 4D movie which was intriguing for him as well. The moving seats, bubbles, air and water seemed to keep him in awe. The seat would move around and then he would look up at us and grin. Bodie did decide to take Mommy’s 4D glasses away for his chewing pleasure. This left me without much opportunity to take in the experience, which was fine. It was more fun watching his reactions. Lastly, we strolled through the tasting room where he did sample a couple of the 60 flavors of drinks that they offer from around the world. We had a GREAT visit...
